| This Eastern Plains Garter Snake (Thamnophis radix radix) was recently found in a suburban backyard near Chicago, Illinois, and I had the opportunity to photograph it. I don't know what the owner of the snake wants to do, so hopefully I will get to keep it. Here are the pics. I will take more tomorrow in better light.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful snake. I'm curious. How did you get the photo of him on his back? |

| Thanks, Basically I just got the snake in the position that I wanted it in in my hands, then put it down on its back, holding it in place for a few seconds. While photographing snakes, it can sometimes take dozens if not hundereds of different repositionings to get them in that "perfect pose" like that one on its back. I spent about 20 minutes getting that one, and the snake was only in that position for a few seconds. It just takes time and lots of patience to get herps to pose for you, and sometimes, they still refuse to pose. Thanks again, Scott Albert |
