Summertime Missouri Herps (Part 2)

The daytime heat gave us the opportunity to swim and fish in some crystal clear ozark streams and rivers. From left to right is: Me, my brother Tim, our friend Adam, and my dad Keith.

Here are some shots of a spring we went to.

Around the spring we found many Cave Salamanders (Eurycea lucifuga)

I have no idea what kind of spider this is, but it looks nasty.

This little Common Map Turtle was basking on a rock.

Not far from the Map Turtle was this Midland Water Snake

Ventral shot of the same snake.

This Speckled Kingsnake was found on the crawl.

Our evenings and nights were spent cruising roads in hopes of finding Copperheads. We found eight in all, here are the two we kept until daylight for pics.

Osage Copperheads (Agkistrodon contortrix phaeogaster)

All in all it was another fun trip to the ozarks.

Thanks for looking,

Scott

Great pics Scott! That is a Black and Yellow Argiope. The zizags on the web in lower part are typical of argiopes.
