Is this a frog that I'm hearing

Posted by Cindy_S_Cent_PA (kaycks@aol.com) on

I live in south central PA and live on about 9 acres of land all wooded except for about 3/4 of an acre. We also have wetland ponds on about 4 acres. There is a racket at night starting a little after dusk that is really loud. Are these frogs that I'm hearing or something else. Whatever it is I love it, but I'd really like to know what I'm hearing. Can anyone help me. Thanks.

Cindy

Hm, maybe go to the link and click on the frogs in your area and listen to the sound link.

I love the noisy nights of summer, too.
It's not just one creature responsible ;)
The link might help you understand your racket ;)))

Thanks for responses. I thought maybe it was frogs that I was hearing because it is soooo loud. It sounds like it's up in the trees, not so much around the house, almost like those metal noise makers that you twirl around by a handle.

The dog-day cicadas are out now and so are crickets at night.
