Please recommend a turtle filter

| I have a little slider in a 30 gallon tank right now. Even though he's so small in such a large tank (proportioned) he still makes a lot of mess.
He also likes treats in his water and I don't want to have to snatch him out just for feeding in a seperate container.
I have a smallish submersible whisper filter and the thing is always getting clogged and I have to unscrew the thing to get at the... thing? Where it gets clogged anyways.
What filter would you guys recommend for a turtle tank, one that:
a) Doesn't clog badly
b) and the filters are easily accessable for quick cleaning? |

| Fish tank pump/filters are no good for turtle tanks/water enclosures. Go with the Fluval 3 Plus Underwater Filter. Easy to clean the filter and not a pain like the carbon/mesh fish tank filters. |

That ones kind of pricey. Can you please take a look at this one and tell me what you think? http://petdiscounters.com/customer/product.php?productid=1157228&cat=914&page=1 Also, would you recommend that I heat the water? The house is kept at room temp. or a little above. I have a full spectrum, heat lamp but is that enough? Would I use a water heater or a heating pad? |

| Yes, that filter is good too. Turtle water needs to be 78-82. Room temp is too low. Full spectrum involves two lights: UVA/UVB strip light for metabolizing calcium, strengthen bones, harden shell. Without this, your turtle will die. Also, a basking light. Usually a reflecting dome with a UV full spectrum incandescent bulb. Get the Over 60 Watt dome and go with a 75-100 W bulb, depending on the promixity to the basking area in the tank. Will this light, also your turtle will lose appetite, stop eating, and die. As for heat, go with an submersible heater, preset to 82. Turtles are the most expensive to maintain. Many think that it's just a matter of a plastic round tub, some food and a little water. Sure, if you want a pet with a one month death sentence. |

| I found a couple of Duetto 100's work pretty well. Dave |

| Day by Day, I'm confused. There aren't single bulb full spectrum bulbs? Example: http://petdiscounters.com/customer/product.php?productid=1157144&cat=785&page=1 By the way, isn't this a great, cheap little site? Not for food items, of course but non-perishable it's great. I'm looking into purchasing a heater. Oh, but I have a concern that Brogsworth (he used to be my neighbor's... I didn't name him) might burn himself on it. Is there a chance of that? Would it have to get pretty hot to heat the whole tank? |

| Oh, I forgot, what size heater would heat his 30 gallon tank? I appreciate all your help, guys! So does Brogsworth! I'll post pictures soon, he's the cutest little thing! |
