Is this snake a Cottonmouth/Water Moccasin???

this snake crawled out of the engine compartment of my bosses wife's suv, in the parking lot of her workplace, right when she arrived at work in morning. If this helps, they have a small fishing canal/creek, right next door to their house, location is Baton Rouge, Louisiana. If any additional info is needed to help identify this snake please post a reply and let me know, thanks!!

They had previously(few months ago) seen a HUGE snake skin in door of vehicle, like in the housing for the door hinges, near the engine compartment, it was draped over the inner door hinges, is it possible that this snake was "living" in this vehicle? They do not use the vehicle often, in fact more like very seldom. It sits in their driveway near the canal most of the time. thanks again, any info appreciated!!

Ritchie is right on. It is a Diamondback Water Snake (Nerodia rhombifer rhombifer). They are nonvenomous and harmless.
