| Ok, here's a bit of info and just my brain running away with me (You'll get used to it, don't worry.)
My fiancee and I just recently moved... we've finally got a yard! We're still working on landscape details, but the property is in a neighborhood that was built on top of the Atlantic Coastal Ridge (eastern central Florida, high dry habitat)... undeveloped areas near us have populations of six lined race runners, scrub lizards, etc.
If I were to go do a bit of wild collection (which I don't do very often anymore), after restoring at least a portion of the yard to something resembling the original habitat, what would be the liklihood of getting a viable breeding population of something other than Cuban anoles in my yard? Anyone had any luck reintroducing native herps to their yard? (If I knew the neighbors better, I'd even try a few eastern coachwhips, but I don't know if they're snake killers or not yet... I figure lizards would be pretty safe.) |
