Compost research question

Is it possible to attain a respectably high level of thermophyllic bacteria in a semi heated room, tossed every once and a while, in a 1m3 composting box?

I would think so, though the smell of outgassing may be unbearable if not hazardous due to methane buildup in a closed area.
