World Changing (book) - environmental relevance

I recently got a copy of World Changing, a biggish book edited by Alex Steffen, published in 2006 by Harry N. Abrams, Inc.

It is good for bringing a person up to date with the environmental and social thinking of 'Generation Next' (Steffen was born in 1968).

The content is intgelligent and informed and ranges through environmental issues and responses of all sorts. A lot of stuff on technologies, networking, places, projects, business. It's an eye-opener, even for someone like myself who has been involved for a long time.

Some of the info can be put into practice in your own home or personal life. Other stuff requires working with other people in an intentional way, or is happening on the other side of the globe.

I realize that, in one sense, 'a book is just a book'. And I'm sure this book will have its critics... but it will be interesting and useful to hear or read what the critics have to say.

Maybe the most important thing about this book for me has been the insight into the planetary perspective of concerned & engaged people in the high-school to early 30s age range.

Yeah, I meant to provide a link to a page about the book.

Hoepfully, this link works for you.

Joel, thanks for bringing this up. It looks like a very worthwhile book. Have you looked at the website? Are the ideas in the book also addressed on the site?

You can tell that the same people are responsible for both the book and the Web site. Plainly, there is overlap, and the basic ideas are the same. I think things are easier to find in the book, though obviously new material can be added to the Web site - and you can't do that with a book until a new edition is published.
