Going, going...

Posted by Marshallz10 (My Page) on

My anniversary date (paid membership) expires tomorrow and I am not finding much reason to renew, at least on this forum and other GW/NN ones I sometimes visit. Our environments are not being saved, much less conserved but only touted as being improved or becoming improved from the anthropocentric view. Regional environmental issues now give way to grander scares and conspiracies involving global players, events, and "forces." No matter, APATHY RULES!

Marshall, I guess you can [or can you?] just lurk once in a while......until you get bored with the extra spare time.

You are right. This old world [for right now] is not going to get better.

Can the Marshall stay away? Tune in tomorrow for the ...................

Hey, since when is this a paying-members-only forum?

I've never given 'em 1 dime......

RE: Going, going...

Marshallz, did you watch DN tonight on the web or hear it on the radio...you sound like ole BIll got you going.

I have hope for this world. I think you should enjoy the ride things could be interesting and healthier changes are starting to happen.

PS I would miss all the documentation and attention to details you provide. But more the drama you bring here to the forums...a hard working farmer, with a past government background into agriculture as an inspector and his many years of life experience would be gone....

I find as a memeber that all the popups stop as well as all the annoying propaganda stops. Thats enough to pay my dues.

Here is a link that might be useful: dn

RE: Going, going...

Have to admit things here at SOE have almost ground to a halt, even my off world postings have slowed, ha. As long as the world population grows I doubt the Earth can do better than just maintain much less improve from here on out. Seems whenever we cut pollution in half at one source, two more sources are created to full the needs of the people. Don't blame you for your decision Marshall as I have grown weary also, but will still check on things here. You never know, it might heat up again...like global warming ;o) vgkg

RE: Going, going...

Marshall, I would hate to see you go. Things do seem pretty depressing of late in the sustainable arena - the political spinners and deceivers win out all to often. I count on folks here to help me keep things in perspective, to find some reason in a world where facts don't matter anymore and a new reality is created and marketed to the masses. You are one of the best at seeing through the bs. Hope you decide to stay.

RE: Going, going...

Marshall, I hope you write a book during your sabbatical. I would like to be among the first to have a signed first edition.

Take care,

Althea

Another first-edition-seeker-for-a-good-Marshall-book here, too!

RE: Going, going...

The day has passed and nothing seems to have happened with the content of or access to this page.

 o
RE: Going, going...

Well, I think the paying membership lets you post on certain sites..Most sites are free. All are free to browse.

 o
RE: Going, going...

Nothing seems to have happened to your member page either Marshall. You're still listed as a contributing member. Darned conspiracies.

RE: Going, going...

All my posting in the Maine forums are being deleted. Not sure what is going on, I got an email that said welcome as a new member today as well?! I emailed back to tell them I have been a memember for a couple of years now. I noticed my postings were deleted! YIKES...will this one stay?

Glad to see you are still amoung us here...just wondering what this problem for me is?!

apology

sorry for the hijack to your thread marshal. I was a bit concerned what was happening to my posting. It seems that I made a change on my memeber's page and somehow I must of changed my location to a foreign country- but we got it fixed.

Ok I am back and running now. Time to cover up the tomatoes for now.

RE: Going, going...

I am glad you found yourself == tough to lost in a foreign country and not sure of your cyberlanguage skills. :>)

There have been spells where my posts have been deleted although the administration denied involvement. I just "persisted through" the interference.

RE: Going, going...

Marshall - I've been pondering some of your comments for several days & I wanted to let you know that while I consistently run across stuff that'd be highly appropriate to this forum, I find myself choosing NOT to start new threads - mainly coz I've become tired of the 'usual' contrarian lurkers who seem to pounce on such topics w/ a vengeance & squelch any meaningful discussion.

I'm SO not interested in arguing w/ those type of people & the inevitable negative replies are SO predictable that I guess I've become bored w/ the whole endeavor.

So do we all owe a big 'Thank You' to the party poopers......? >= P

(FWIW, I'll try to muster enough enthusiasm to post info I think y'all may be interested in.)

RE: Going, going...

Carolb, I too have stopped posting many interesting materials for the same reason: knee-jerk contrarians and ideologues pounding away regardless of the aim or content of the posting or resorting to ad hominems. Of course, by not posting or commenting on posts, we are ceding the field of sustaining our environment to them. In effect, they win by default, not by value of commentary or standards supported by many on this forum.

 o
RE: Going, going...

I haven't stopped posting materials. It seems most of the things I really care about have been covered a few thousand times over. I will continue to scour for more topics and add topics as I find them through my various subsciptions.

Nice to see you are still with us Marshall.
