wind row plant choices

| We just bought a place in zone 5 and moved from a woodsy place to a flat acerage. Never thought of the wind. (duh!)
We need a wind-break but are confused about plant choices. We are looking at Canadian Hemlock or Siberian Elm or possibly Americam Arborvitae Evergreen Hedge.
Any experience and sujestions as to which will be hardier and will grow and last?
